Privacy of Employment Information


West Virginia University offers online services for individuals who wish to be considered for employment on its campus. These online services are provided by third parties who specialize in employment databases and tools. Third party service providers are prohibited from using the information provided for any purpose other than collecting it on our behalf. Information collected is accessible and confidential to West Virginia University for the purpose of determining qualifications of a candidate for potential employment, quality control, quality assurance, statistical purposes, and academic research. Information supplied by individuals is kept on file for a minimum of three years.

 
Information Disclosure
 
Except as described in this privacy policy, WVU does not use or disclose to any outside parties, any personal information that you provide, such as your name, e-mail address, telephone number and employment information except when we are permitted or required by law. WVU does not sell, rent or exchange lists of job seekers or employers with other companies.
 
When you sign up to use a service of this website, please understand that WVU may use that information to administer and build your account, to provide the services that you have requested, to understand the needs of our candidates and to ensure a high standard of service to our candidates. WVU may make this information available to our Human Resource teams to make you aware of additional news and services that may be of interest to you.
 
Background Check
 
West Virginia University requires a background check for all new employees. Internal employees who transfer to a position with a material change, such as going from a non-driving position to a driving position, shall also receive the additional necessary checks.  

Clery Act

According to federal law, West Virginia University must publish and distribute an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASR) to current students and employees and to give notice of its availability to prospective ones. The ASR includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by West Virginia University, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The ASR also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
